Genevieve McGarvey is an attorney focusing on complex civil litigation with a docket that spans Galveston, Harris, Brazoria and Jefferson Counties. Her diversity of cases has included medical malpractice claims, products liability cases, commercial litigation, tort claims litigation, life insurance cases, civil rights litigation, toxic tort and environmental damage.
In conjunction with her litigation practice at McLeod, Alexander, Powel and Apffel, P.C., McGarvey is a seasoned mediator and ad litem for the District, Probate and County Courts of Galveston County with a record of settling 90 percent of the cases brought to her for mediation. Additionally, she has an exceptional ability to creatively design settlements for the best interests of her clients. She works assiduously with mediation clients to resolve their cases and avoid the financial and emotional costs of trial and appeal. She is a Credentialed Distinguished Mediator with the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association.
Since joining the firm McGarvey has defended clients including The University of Texas System, The Medical Protective Company, U.S. Financial Life Insurance Company, Texas Municipal League and petrochemical clients such as BP Products North America and BP Chemical Company. Other strengths include, skillful negotiation and legal counsel on a variety of issues spanning environmental damage, releases, property damage, industrial devastation, construction and accidents, injuries to employees and plant contractors and OSHA citations.
